Originating from the life's work of Australian bodywork genius Tom Bowen, NST is a powerful and accurate interpretation of his Advanced Principles, completely unique in its construction, style and philosophy.
Developed was between 1991 and 1995 by world renowned health practitioner, teacher and lecturer, Michael J Nixon-Livy from Melbourne, Australia. NST has been specifically crafted to provide the same dependable level of health care that Tom Bowen himself was able to provide.
As such, NST has earned itself the reputation as being the word's leader in Bowen-derived therapies, and is a powerful living tribute and legacy to the work of Tom Bowen, and the thousands of skilled practitioners who continue to practice this most valuable healing art.
About NST
NST is a remarkably effective professional bodywork technique, that when applied initiates a process of natural auto-regulation to occur in the spinal column and consequently throughout the whole body. The result of this is a rapid elimination or reduction of symptoms, followed by an increase in energy and unmistakable sense of well being.
Typically the response to NST is most often profoundly effective, and more than seldom, miraculous. As it encourages the body to heal itself, it is safe enough to be applied to an extensive range of conditions, for new-borns, the elderly and every age group in between.
While substantial relief is frequently experienced after the first session, long term resolution is generally attained after the third or fourth session. Certain chronic or degenerative conditions may benefit from further or ongoing attention.
What is the difference between Bowen Technique and NST?
With Bowen Technique, minimal amounts of moves are made on the body. The main principal of the technique is "Less is More". The practitioner must strive to do the minimum of moves or procedures to trigger in the body the desired self healing response. Doing too many mobilizations could actually be counteractive. The sicker the patient is or the more acute the condition is, the less is done during the session and the less pressure will be used to do the moves, the more profound the effect will be on the body and the therapist must sense when enough has been done.
When treating someone with NST the difference is that more moves are made on the body, the structure is checked for imbalances in the pelvis, coccyx and TMJ (jaw). If there is an imbalance then gentle corrective procedures are made as the treatment progresses. Therefore, many moves could be made on the body. The theory is that the body will just take on the procedures it needs at that time and the rest will be ignored.
Either of the Bowen methods are equally as effective. I use my senses on the day of your treatment, to decide which Bowen therapy would be best for your body to receive.
